Minutes after the news filtered through about Alvaro Negredo, Middlesbrough look to have signed Borussia Dortmund defender Neven Subotic in a sensational deal.
GazetteLive have once again produced the goods, reporting that Middlesbrough have submitted a work permit application for Subotic, with a three year deal for a fee that could rise to €10m in the pipeline.
Note, the Subotic deal is subject to a work permit being accepted.
Subotic has reportedly had extensive talks with Boro manager Aitor Karanka and is 'excited' at the prospect of joining Middlesbrough, but needs to get paperwork stamped ahead of a move.
Middlesbrough are confident that they will win on the point based first stage of the appeal process.
