Liverpool Fans Are Loving Paul Scholes After He Backed Them To Retain Premier League Title

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has backed Liverpool to retain the Premier League title as he questioned why Georginio Wijnaldum would want to leave the Reds.

Liverpool sealed a 4-0 thrashing against Wolves at Anfield on Sunday evening to move level on points with league leaders Tottenham.

And Wijnaldum, 30, scored Liverpool's second with a peach of a curler from outside of the box.

The Dutch midfielder was heavily linked with Barcelona in the summer, but the Spanish club failed to land Wijnaldum before the window shut.

Scholes was baffled at why Wijnaldum would want to leave Liverpool after praising Jurgen Klopp's side for their attacking display of football.

Speaking after the match, the 46-year-old said: "Why would he [Wijnaldum] want to leave this place? The way this team is playing attacking football and he's playing football every week.

"I know there was a bit of talk of Barcelona during the summertime, I think -- he was linked to Barcelona -- but it never came off.

"Whether he wanted to go, I don't know. But why would you want to leave a football team like this? I think they'll win the league again -- and it's just an exciting team to play in."

Liverpool fans have also flocked to Twitter in delight after the former United star backed them to win the league title.

The Reds will now travel to Denmark for their Champions League clash with Midtjylland on Wednesday.

Klopp's men will return to Premier League action next Sunday when they travel to Craven Cottage for their clash with Fulham.
