Kevin De Bruyne has revealed the position he sees Phil Foden playing in for Manchester City following his stunning performance against Brighton.

Man City ran out 4-0 winners at Brighton as they closed the gap on league leaders Arsenal by one point.

De Bruyne opened the scoring with a brilliant header before Foden bagged a brace to put his side three-up before the break.

After winning a controversial free-kick, his effort deflected into the back of the net. He then pounced on a Brighton mistake to score his second goal of the night.

Julian Alvarez added a fourth after the hour mark to secure a big win on the road as the Blues target a fourth Premier League title in a row.

Foden has now scored an impressive 16 league goals this campaign and 24 goals across all competitions.

He's enjoying the best goal-scoring season of his budding career and has been hugely influential for his team.

The 23-year-old has been operating from the left wing under Pep Guardiola, but, speaking after last night's win, De Bruyne believes the star player will end up in a central position.

"He'll end up central," he told Sky Sports. "I saw him from the beginning, it takes a while to get used to a Pep team.

"Now he's trusted central, and Phil does what he does for seven years already. He's been doing this for years, helped us win titles."

Foden himself added: "I see myself central. I've moved inside, it's helped massively, playing with the best in the world like Kevin De Bruyne helps.

"I enjoy the middle, it's where I want to be, I can score a lot of goals and create things. I'm enjoying my football, playing with freedom."

It appears Man City have a ready-made replacement for De Bruyne when he eventually leaves the Etihad.

The Belgium international will turn 33 by the time next season rolls around, with Foden tipped to adopt a central position in the future.
