Hundreds Of Hartlepool Fans Dress As Clowns For Final Away Game Of The Season

Incredible.

Hartlepool fans have continued one of lower league football's most iconic traditions by dressing up as clowns for their final away game of the season.

In years gone by, Pools fans have dressed as Star Wars' Stormtroopers and Smurfs, but this year they strapped on the famous clown outfit to watch their side win 2-1 at Prenton Park.

It was quite the sight when Liam Donnelly and Rhys Oats scored for the away side. Hundreds of men and women in multicoloured wigs and face paint danced up and down as they celebrated an unexpected win over second place Tranmere.

Clearly the luck of the clown helped Matthew Bates' side on this occasion.

Here are some of the best reactions from social media.

They certainly caused a stir when they arrived at the train station this morning.

Now stop clowning around Hartlepool and gain promotion to the Football League next season.

We miss you!
