Referee Literally KICKS Player During Nantes vs Paris Saint-Germain, Then Sends Him Off

Question. Have you ever witnessed a referee kick a player and then send him off? Perhaps in a local Sunday League game, but during a Ligue 1 tie involving Paris Saint-Germain?

In a remarkable series of events, referee Tony Chapron lashed out at Nantes player Diego Carlos after the defender appeared to accidentally trip him up in injury time. How ironic.

Chapron proceeded to show Carlos a second yellow card for 'dissent' and the hundreds and thousands watching at home rubbed their eyes in disbelief.

We've never seen anything like before. WOW:

After the game, Nantes president Waldemar Kita has called for the referee to be banned for six months after he kicked Carlos while he tried to get on his feet.

"I received 20 SMS from all over the world telling me that this referee is a joke," Kita told L'Equipe.

"What do you want me to say to you? If I talk too much, I will be summoned by an ethics commission. We have no right to say anything.

"It's still scandalous to see that. We give a red card to a player who did nothing. Where are we? He has to go back to school."

President Kita continued, admitting that the official probably didn't do it on purpose, but says there is now a 'problem':

"Chapron has to rest and get a massage, it works like that now, we cannot see him [after the match ended]. I'm waiting for the green light, otherwise I'll be killed. It's amateurism.

The Ultimate Fail compilation...

"Sincerely, I think he did not do it on purpose. I do not want to believe he did it on purpose. At least, you apologise but you do not give a red card, it's not serious.

"We still have to find a solution, because there is a problem in all this. It makes me laugh at the end. I have never seen that before.

"He should be suspended for six months. If we did it, we would be banned for six months."

Thoughts on the above incident? Should the referee be banned for six months, like the Nantes president is saying here.

Let us know in the comments. This is certainly one of the most bizarre incidents we've seen for some time.
