It's official. Everton have sacked Roberto Martinez as manager after a disappointing third season in charge at Goodison Park. The news certainly comes as no shock after the Toffees fell to a 3-0 defeat to Sunderland.
Many have turned against Martinez following a poor run of results, as his promise of European football at the start of his managerial career at Goodison Park looked more and more unlikely, game after game.
Fans voiced their delight at Martinez's sacking today and even first-choice goalkeeper Joel Robles was caught liking a Twitter post about the Spaniard's departure.
Since March 3rd, Everton have only picked up four points in the league, the second lowest of all Premier League sides.

Martinez leaves the Toffees in 12th place in the Premier League, having won just one game in his last nine in all competitions in charge, including an embarrassing 4-0 defeat to Liverpool.
Some say this is Martinez's next destination...
On a serious note, Frank De Boer, who left his post as Ajax manager yesterday is tipped to be the favourite to succeed the Spaniard at Goodison Park.
