Cristiano Ronaldo's Sister Defends Brother After Champions League Exit

By Mike Parrott

The sister of Cristiano Ronaldo, Elma Ronaldo, has once again defender her brother on Instagram after Juventus were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League by Lyon.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Juventus were knocked out last night by Lyon on away goals after an aggregate score of 2-2.

Ronaldo scored both goals for Juventus but wasn't enough for the Italian side to overcome Lyon's superior away goal. Ronaldo has now missed out on another consecutive Champions League semi-final. The Portuguese forward is the only player to have scored for Juventus in their past two seasons in the Champions League knockout stages.

Elma Ronaldo, sister of Cristiano went on to Instagram to defend her brother after he did all he could to keep Juventus in the competition.

When translated, Ronaldo's sister said:

"Yours did better than anyone. I am proud to see you play, and to see your dedication, but unfortunately alone you cannot do everything, moreover it is impossible !!!!! You know football is like that, but you also have to think you did your best, and you're still the best."

Juventus are supposedly set to replace manager Maurizio Sarri with Mauricio Pochettino according to sources and with Ronaldo nearly joining PSG before the COVID-19 pandemic, Juventus could look very different next season.

Elma Ronaldo infamously called out Virgil Van Dijk at the 2019 Ballon D'Or awards even though Ronaldo finished ahead of the Dutchman.
