What could it mean for Marcus Rashford should Manchester United land Alvaro Morata?

Real Madrid reportedly rejected a £52 million bid from United late last night as the club hold out for a whopping £78 million.

It's been no secret that Jose Mourinho is hellbent on snapping up an attacker this summer following their pursuit of Antoine Griezmann, among others.

Though Atletico Madrid's transfer ban being upheld has prompted Griezmann to remain in the Spanish capital despite him beating heavily linked with a move to England.

And Mourinho's cross-hairs are now on Morata which has been backed by his teenage prodigy. The 19-year-old has supported the clubs attempt to sign Morata.

"At a big club you are going to attract big players and that's what we want," he told Sky Sports.

United bagged the League Cup and Europa League in the last campaign, though players who can win the club trophies provides healthy competition.

"Anyone who can come in and help the club win trophies, which is the ultimate aim, they are the players we want to bring in. Good competition is important if you want to be successful."

Following Zlatan Ibrahimovic's injury, Rashford adopted a more central position and continued to improve his budding reputation by churning out match-winning performances including their 2-0 win over eventual-Premier League champions Chelsea.

But the towering Swede's experience and mindset has helped Rashford's game while he continues to learn from him as well as club captain Wayne Rooney.

"The way they (Ibrahimovic and Rooney) think, their mentality towards the game, they are the biggest things that I can take from their game."

"I think with those type of players, whether they are here for the next five years or however long they are here for, you never stop learning from them."

But their futures remain in the balance. Ibrahimovic is being linked with a move to the MLS, and as for Rooney, a mega transfer to the money-rich Chinese Super League is being muted.

Meanwhile, Rashford is in the England squad for their international fixture on Saturday against Scotland.
