Sergio Ramos has fired back at Cristiano Ronaldo for his subtle jab at Real Madrid.

The new season is approaching with La Liga and Serie A kicking-off this weekend including Ronaldo's Juventus debut.

He's set to make his competitive debut versus Chievo and ahead of plying his trade in Italy's top flight, Ronaldo has appeared to taunt his former side.

The 33-year-old superstar said he's pleased to join a family club in Juventus.

Well, Ramos has responded to Ronaldo's comments, vehemently denying Real Madrid is not a family club.

"Here were have always felt like a family, so I don't know what he was talking about," he said via Marca.

"We have had lots of success, which is because we are a family and he was part of that family, which we have continued to have.

"t's obviously a negative when you lose a player like Cristiano Ronaldo, but we can continue to win and in Real Madrid's history many have come and gone, but Real Madrid continue to win.

"No one is above Real Madrid, whatever happens Real Madrid will continue to live on and it was his choice to leave.

"The decisions are not mine to make, but the doors are always open to those that want to be part of Real Madrid."

Ramos continues by stating that losing Ronaldo's services 'was hard' before insisting no player is above the club.

"Losing Ronaldo was hard, but no player is above Real Madrid and we still have the hunger to improve and win more titles.

"The mindset we have is more important than any individuals in the team."

Real Madrid, anyway, face cross-town rivals Atletico Madrid for the first piece of European silverware in the new campaign.
