It appears Phil Foden could make his Manchester City debut tonight against Feyenoord in the Champions League.

The 17-year-old phenom rose to prominence during pre-season after Pep Guardiola named him in the traveling party to the States. He played in the Manchester derby, and impressed the City camp.

But he shot to fame following his heroics for England on under-17 level.

And with City already securing their spot in the next round of the Champions League, Guardiola is expected to ring the changes.

Enter Foden.

As well as the talented midfielder, Brahim Diaz is also in line to feature for City.

Ahead of the clash with the Dutch outfit, Guardiola detailed his approach to the two budding stars.

"I said in pre-season those guys will train with us all season," the Spanish boss said in his pre-match presser.

"They have to have the quality to train with us. It's not just to have fun or be gentle. They are there because they have a chance to play.

"From what I saw of him and Brahim in pre-season, the training, in the World Cup, they are ready. Otherwise they would not be training every day with us.

"Now if they play or don't play depends on my decision. But they have to be ready because sometimes the manager makes surprises!

"We believe the World Cup is perfect for his next step. Of course, playing the quarter-final, semi-final, final, is better than training or playing in the second team or playing 15 or 20 minutes with us.

Guardiola added: "We have to protect them, though. We cannot expect Phil and Brahim to go out there and be important players to win titles. They have to join us and help us. It's all steps.

Here's hoping Foden dons the sky blue of City, tonight.
