Nicolas Pepe's prediction for the FA Cup final against Chelsea proved accurate.

On the Friday before the showpiece at Wembley a day later, Pepe was on Snapchat saying how Arsenal would qualify for the Europa League and that the final would be about he and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang - not former gunner Olivier Giroud.

It's fair to say Pepe was correct. Having scored both goals in the semi-final against Manchester City, Aubameyang again came up clutch with another brace as Arsenal claimed their 14th FA Cup and won the first bit of silverware under Mikel Arteta.

He levelled matters from the spot in the first half before supplying the winner with a deft dink over Willy Caballero in the second.

It meant he got his hands on the first trophy of his career at the ripe old age of 31 - and the Gabon striker's inexperience at handling top prizes resulted in him having some serious difficulty with the trophy lift.

After the game, the man of the moment was whisked in for a post-match interview and asked about his future - with the former Borussia Dortmund man having a year on his Arsenal contract.

He was coy about it all, however, instead focusing on celebrating the triumph.

"I am really not thinking about this now I really just want to enjoy with the guys and take the trophy now,' he told told BT Sport.

"I think everyone gave their best for the team today, we deserved it.

"The journey has been long, great evening, I will enjoy all night for sure, I had this inspiration."

According to The Mirror, Arsenal are set to sit down with their captain and discuss an improved contract.

It's said Aubameyang is seeking a three-year deal on a salary of £250,000-a-week - an increase of £70,000 from his current pay packet.
