Newcastle United's potential new owners have put Massimiliano Allegri at the top of their managerial wish list.

Saudi Arabian Mohammad bin Salman's investment group are edging closer to completing a massive £300 million takeover of the Premier League outfit.

And reports suggest the Saudi Prince is eyeing the former Juventus gaffer to replace current boss Steve Bruce who could be sacked once the multi-million deal is completed, according to SportMediaset.

They have reportedly identified Allegri and are prepared to give him a huge transfer kitty to add some big names to the squad when the transfer window reopens.

The 47-year-old has won an impressive six Serie A titles during his spells at Juventus and AC Milan not to mention four Coppa Italia and three Supercoppa Italiana.

The Italian has been out of work since leaving Juventus at the end of the 2018/19 season.

Despite being linked with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United in the past, he could now take on the job at St James' Park.

It has also been previously revealed that he has been studying English to be ready for a move to England's top flight.
