Netflix have made their first foray into football originals with 'First Team: Juventus' - and it looks amazing.
It's long been speculated that the hugely popular streaming service would move into the sport, producing the same sort of content that they've had success with in American football and other sports.
But football has proven difficult to approach in this way given no real successful precedent being set.
Fox Soccer's 'Being Liverpool' documentary is arguably the most high profile attempt to date, but ended up a one-season failure due to the stick the club took for certain things that happened behind the scenes.
Netflix are aiming to change that though, with 'First Team: Juventus' showing exactly what they're trying to do to give fans a look behind the curtain at big teams.
The trailer was released today ahead of the February 16th launch - and it's sure to be a must-watch for football fans:
How good does that look?
Juventus' official website have released a statement about the Netflix series, saying:
"The series follows the club through the 2017-2018 season spending time with the players behind the scenes both on and off the field. You'll go on the road, deep inside Allianz Stadium and around Turin to capture the players' lives in depth while following the twists and turns of another enthralling season.
Through over four months of shooting, you'll get up close and personal with Bianconeri like Gianluigi Buffon, Federico Bernardeschi, Giorgio Chiellini, Douglas Costa, Gonzalo Higuaín, Claudio Marchisio, Miralem Pjanic, Daniele Rugani, and manager Massimiliano Allegri as well as Bianconeri legends like Alessandro Del Piero.
The wait is almost over, don't miss First Team: Juventus FC on February 16th." it reads.
FYI - @Netflix is releasing the Juventus docu-series on February 16th. Insider look at the club. This is HUGE for Serie A (esp. here in North America). Think of Hard Knocks but for soccer. Can't wait.- Matteo Bonetti (@TheCalcioGuy) February 7, 2018
Hopefully a success with this could see more teams open up their doors to Netflix and give fans the look behind the curtain they always want.
We can't wait!
