Mohamed Salah was voted the third best player of the century at the Globe Soccer Awards with the Liverpool star beating Ronaldinho.

Cristiano Ronaldo beat long-time rival Lionel Messi to be crowned the player of the century at the gala awards night in Dubai.

The Juventus superstar garnered 38 per cent of the votes with the Barcelona captain receiving 24 per cent of the votes.

Salah narrowly missed out on second place as he picked up 23 per cent of the votes.

Ronaldinho collected 14 per cent of the votes.

Ronaldo has enjoyed a prolific spell since 2001, scoring goals at an alarming rate for Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus.

He's won an array of silverware including the Premier League title, La Liga title and Serie A title not to mention the Champions League an impressive five times. On the international scene, the Portuguese helped his side win the European Championship in 2018.

Messi, who has been a one-man club, has also scored a ridiculous number of goals while steering Barcelona to league and European glory.

As for Salah, the Egyptian made a name for himself at AS Roma following a nightmare spell at Chelsea. He has since become a world class player at Liverpool, helping them win the Premier League title as well as the Champions League.
