Today's 0-0 stalemate with Sunderland may have been another match to forget for disillusioned Arsenal fans who are fed up with the annual tradition of their season collapsing in March, but at least one Gunner has something to celebrate following today's game at the Stadium of Light.
The honour may come as scant consolation to him, but Mesut Ozil broke a Premier League record for most chances created in a single season when he fashioned his 135th opening of the campaign against the Black Cats, this afternoon.
As impressive as this stat is, it also serves to highlight just how wasteful Arsenal's strikers have been, namely Olivier Giroud who hasn't found the net in the Premier League since early January. Had he been as prolific as Ozil, the Gunners would likely have been the party poopers for Leicester and Spurs' tussle for the Premier League title, this season. Instead, they're left in their traditional scrap for the Champions League places and obligatory dressing room selfie that will accompany the securing of third or fourth place.
