More bad news for Jose Mourinho

International breaks are so often an absolute killer for club teams, with players regularly picking up injuries when representing their countries and the curse has struck Manchester United, today with Marouane Fellaini suffering a knee injury during Belgium's World Cup qualifier against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The 29-year-old midfielder was forced off with the problem just before the half hour mark, with Belgium leading 1-0. Less than a minute after the former Everton man left the field, Bosnia equalised.

Jose Mourinho will be hoping the injury is nothing too serious, with the Belgian starting this season in red hot form, scoring four goals already.

With Paul Pogba a long term absentee with his hamstring injury, Fellaini has become an integral member of Mourinho's starting XI, putting in a string of impressive performances in the Frenchman's absence, including scoring a brace against Crystal Palace, last weekend.

Fellaini would no doubt be one of the first name's on Mourinho's teamsheet for next week's trip to Anfield to face Liverpool, but now the United boss may have to make alternative arrangements for his midfield, with Ander Herrera likely to deputise for Fellaini should he miss out.

Given that this evening's game was essentially a dead rubber for Belgium, who have already qualified for the World Cup, Mourinho will be doubly annoyed with Roberto Martinez for playing Fellaini, who had already carrying a slight injury heading into the game.
