Liverpool have been dealt a major injury blow ahead of their clash against Bournemouth this weekend.

After a short winter break, Jurgen Klopp’s men will be back in Premier League action as they travel to the Vitality Stadium to take on Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon.

It has been a brilliant season so far for Liverpool as they currently sit top of the league table, two points ahead of champions Manchester City.

However, ahead of their match against Bournemouth, Liverpool have been dealt a big injury blow.

During Liverpool’s 4-2 victory against Newcastle United earlier in the month, midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai was taken off after suffering a hamstring injury.

The Anfield club had hoped that Szoboszlai would be back for the match against Bournemouth but Klopp has confirmed that the Hungarian will not be available for selection.

Klopp also gave an update on full-backs Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

He told reporters during the pre-match press conference: “They’re all positive but not ready. They’re all going in the right direction and getting closer and closer and closer, and some of them might be in team training next week.

“But for the Bournemouth game, I don’t expect anyone back.”

Klopp continued: “I hope that nobody will be out until then. After Bournemouth, maybe for Fulham we will see how the boys do, but they are all close.

“Trent close, Dom close, Robbo close. They are all going in the right direction but for this weekend’s game, no.”

Liverpool were also dealt a major injury worry this week after talisman Mohamed Salah was forced off during Egypt’s AFCON clash against Ghana on Thursday night.

It has been reported that Salah suffered a hamstring injury but the severity of the problem is currently unknown.

Salah was seen walking and smiling through the media zone after the match, with Egypt boss Rui Vitoria saying: “I hope it's not a big problem. But it was a problem in the first half because we lost one time to make a substitution. In the second half, we only had two moments to make substitutions.

“Now I don't know because it's [too] early to see something. I think it's not dangerous, but let's see if Salah recovers.”
