Manchester City's Angelino has taken to Instagram to throw some shade over his lack of playing time at the club.

After City exercised their buy-back option by acquiring him from PSV, the Spaniard made a total of 12 appearances for the club last term before he was loaned out to Bundesliga side RB Leipzig, who he helped reach the Champions League semi-finals.

Having impressed since making the move to East Germany in January, earning a spot in the 'Champions League Squad of the Season', he's returned to the Red Bull outfit for a second loan spell.

But after a fan criticised him for not being 'good enough' to play for City, Angelino responded on social media.

Accompanying his comment with a laughing emoji, the 23-year-old wrote: "Haha great banter... can't perform playing one game a month".

The former Deportivo La Coruna youth player did start in big games against Liverpool and Manchester United in the Premier League due to injuries at left-back, but had to make do with being third-choice when Benjamin Mendy and Oleksandr Zinchenko were fit and available.

His loan arrangement with Leipzig sees the club have the option to purchase him permanently if he makes 12 appearances and five come in the second half of the current campaign.

City will insert a buy-back option in his contract for a second time if the transfer takes place but already you get the sense he's not willing to accept anything less than regular first-team football going forward.

Angelino started for Julian Nagelsmann's side as they got their season underway with a 3-0 win over FC Nurnberg in the DFB-Pokal yesterday.
