Van de Beek made a rare start as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer handed him a place in midfield and the Dutchman took his opportunity to shine.
He churned out an assured performance and nearly created a goal out of nothing when he picked out Juan Mata with a sensational pass.
Mason Greenwood pierced a ball to Van de Beek who produced an exquisite flick to Mata who failed to complete the move, forcing a save from Ben Foster.

Speaking ahead of United's cup clash against Watford, Solskjaer was asked about Van de Beek's lack of game-time at United.
"I've answered this question so many time," he said.
"There's so many examples of players needing a little bit of time, quality players. We have many examples ourselves and there are other clubs with examples. Sometimes it takes time.
"You don't expect people who care for him to be quiet at times, especially when they want the best for them."
Should Van de Beek start more often for United? Let us know.
