Harry Maguire's £85 Million Manchester United Move Knocks Ronaldo's Real Madrid Transfer Out Of Top Ten Deals

Harry Maguire's £85 million move to Manchester United will knock Cristiano Ronaldo's then-world record £80 million transfer to Real Madrid out of the top 10 record deals.

Having courted him all summer, The Telegraph report that United have met Leicester City's requirement for money up front and add on fees and that Maguire is now free to undergo a medical and agree personal terms at Old Trafford.

The 26-year-old will become the most expensive defender in football, with the fee eclipsing the £75 million Liverpool splashed out to land Virgil van Dijk from Southampton in a deal that has proved to be well worth the money.

But Maguire will also move into the top ten for the most expensive players in football history at the expense of Ronaldo.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner's transfer to Real Madrid from United in 2009 was a record move for quite some time but is now barely near the top thanks to an incredibly inflated transfer market that has seen big money being thrown around.

Ronaldo went on score to a staggering 450 goals at Los Blancos in addition to winning four Champions League trophies.

Will Maguire be worth the money?
