Liverpool's Andy Robertson has been voted the best left-back in world football today.

SPORTbible held a poll asking readers to choose from one of four choices: the 25-year-old Reds star, Barcelona's Jordi Alba, Bayern Munich's David Alaba or Juventus' Alex Sandro.

With over 30,000 readers voting in the poll, Robertson took home over 40 per cent of the vote. Alba and Sandro finished second and third respectively, while Alaba came in last place.

Liverpool signed Robertson from Hull City in 2017 for a reported fee of £8m, and the Scotland international has become an integral part of Jürgen Klopp's squad.

Since his arrival at Anfield, he has made over 50 appearances and scored once for the Reds.

The Liverpool defender committed his long-term future to the club after he penned a new deal back in January, which will keep him at Anfield until 2024.

Robertson's improvement has caught the attention of former Manchester United and Everton player Phil Neville, who showered him with praise on Match of the Day 2.

"What you need in wide areas is energy and what Liverpool have got in Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold [they have] players with tremendous energy and the capacity to run 40 or 50 yards in that gully there and it allows the forwards to play really narrow and the space in wide areas that only these two people occupy," he said.

"This lad, Andy Robertson, he's the most improved player I've ever seen in the Premier League, his energy, his quality, he's the best left-back I see in Europe at this moment in time.

"This for me, a former full-back, is utopia, from the full-back to the other full-back to score. Mane has got to let the full-back score.

"With Alexander-Arnold and Robertson in the team, Liverpool have got a better chance of winning the league."
