Lionel Messi Has Completed La Liga, This Season

Spanish football? Completed it, m8

Quite good, Lionel Messi, isn't he? Keeps scoring free-kicks and dribbling past players like he's bored down the park and is joining in with the nearest kickabout he sees, just so he can take the piss.

And the Argentinean forward's stats this season are, quite frankly, fucking ridiculous.

The five time Ballon d'Or winner is topping every single possible ranking in La Liga, this term. In fact, Messi's been so dominant he could probably go in goal for Barcelona for the remainder of the campaign and have a crack at making the most saves and he'd probably do it with games to spare.

Messi's trademark free-kick was all Barca needed to beat Atletico Madrid at the Camp Nou, yesterday in a top of the table clash in La Liga. It was Messi's third successful free-kick in three consecutive games. A feat even he hasn't managed, before.

The victory leaves Ernesto Valverde's men eight points clear of Atleti at the top of the table, with just 11 games remaining. And it's safe to say the Tom Cruise sized genius is the reason why Barca are on course to regain the La Liga title.

Not only is Messi the top scorer in La Liga, this term (24 goals) he's also registered the most assists (12), the most shots, the most passes before assists, most chances created and most successful dribbles.

That sixth Ballon d'Or is surely not too far away for the 30-year-old, who could still lead the Catalan giants to European glory, with Barca well placed heading into the second leg of their Champions League second round tie against Chelsea, thanks to Messi's away goal at Stamford Bridge, two weeks ago.

And of course, there's the small matter of finally tasting international glory, with Argentina one of the favourites heading into this summer's World Cup, in Russia.
