Juventus have confirmed that Dani Alves has suffered a broken leg during today's 3-1 defeat to Genoa.

The Brazilian full-back suffered the injury following a challenge on Genoa's Lucas Ocampos and had to be stretchered from the pitch a the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, deep into the second half.

Further examinations will be undertaken on the injury tomorrow but the Turin club have confirmed that the former Barccelona right-back has indeed suffered a compound fracture which will leave him on the sidelines for a lengthy spell.

A statement from the Italian champions read, "The first assessments carried in hospital have revealed a compound fracture of the fibula of his left leg, which will be re-evaluated tomorrow [Monday]."

Alves arrived at the Juventus stadium this Summer, after spending eight trophy laden years with Barcelona, where he lifted three Champions Leagues and six La Liga titles.
