Thanks to a strict diet, Romelu Lukaku has lost 16lbs to get into the best shape of his career at Inter Milan.

During his time at Manchester United, Lukaku was actually 9lbs overweight due to suffering from a malfunctioning digestive system that neither he or the club were aware of to begin with.

When he turned up at Inter, it was reported that the Belgian weighed 104kg and was placed on a strict diet and extra training by Antonio Conte as a result

And according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Lukaku has gone from 15st 11lbs to around 14st 9lbs after the expert guidance from the nutritionist Matteo Pincella.

Pincella, who also works for the Italian national team, started out in rugby and has been a key part of Conte's staff in various jobs since 2012.

And he devised a diet plan that has seen Lukaku be at his absolute peak of performance on the pitch. Pineapple on pizza and carbonara pasta had to be scrapped, with chicken, sweet potatoes, shirataki noodles, and fish all key.

Lukaku is allowed one cheat meal a week and you can clearly see the way he has improved his physique.

"When I joined Inter we did an analysis of my body and a lot has changed," Lukaku told Inter's official podcast.

"I eat a lot of salad and fish, which has a great effect on me. I take carnitine, it makes me feel good, and I take vitamins.

"I eat salad for lunch, a lot of chicken breast, shirataki noodles. Since following this lifestyle I feel better on the pitch, more responsive and faster.

"I love sweet potatoes and black rice, I don't eat pasta.

"I have reached another level, physically and mentally. The day before the game I can go overboard with carbohydrates. After most matches I eat two packs of gnocchi. They get into my circulation quickly, they help me a lot.

"I drink and eat at the stadium, in our canteen, or I take my food home, then recover with lots of ice."

Fitter, faster and sharper on the pitch, Lukaku has been in superb form. He has 59 in 85 appearances for Inter, including 25 in 34 this term.

Six points clear at the top of the table, Lukaku's goals look set to propel the Nerazzurri to their first Scudetto since 2010 under Jose Mourinho.
