Iker Muniain fumed about the inconsistency of VAR after the technology failed to award Athletic Bilbao a penalty against Real Madrid.

Los Blancos moved seven points clear at the top of La Liga thanks to a 1-0 win achieved by another Sergio Ramos penalty after Marcelo was deemed to have been fouled inside the box courtesy of an intervention from VAR.

Real skipper Ramos converted his second penalty in a week and his 22nd consecutive spot-kick in the 72nd minute.

But mere minutes later and the Spaniard really should have conceded one when he stepped on Raul Garcia's foot in the area. This time, however, VAR didn't even check the decision.

And an incensed Muniain was not happy with the double standards, suggesting that Real get the rub of the green more than other teams.

"Raul Garcia's been stamped on and they haven't even revised it, that's the difference," the Athletic captain said after the game, as per Sport.

"We've seen the theme in these weeks since the restart, depending on which teams it is, some decisions are given. Everyone can draw their own conclusions."

His comments come after Barcelona's Gerard Pique suggested Real Madrid get more decisions going in their favour, a statement that prompted his compatriot Ramos to say: "People shouldn't be imagining things!"
