Former football star Peter Crouch has hilariously recalled the incident of when his wife refused to let him take a selfie with Baywatch bombshell Pamela Anderson.

Speaking on BBC show Peter Crouch: Save Our Summer, the 39-year-old revealed that he attended an event hosted by Anderson.

However, Crouch's hopes of snapping a pic with the former Playboy star were dashed when wife Abbey Clancy intervened.

The former Stoke City and Liverpool striker explained: "I met Pamela Anderson once. At some event she was hosting.

"She was just there [gestures that she was standing right next to him] and I said to Abs, 'You do realise I've got to have a picture with Pamela Anderson [...].'

"She was like, 'No, you don't.' I was like, 'You don't realise, the boys are gonna be like [...] I've got to send them a snap of me with Pamela Anderson [...].'

"And she was like, 'No, you don't.' And that was that. That's my story. That's showbiz!"

Crouch, who retired from football in 2019, has been married to model Abbey since 2011 and the pair have four children together.

The ex-England international has previously opened up about his near-death experience with his wife when their romantic champagne cruise turned "into a horror movie."

Crouch has also revealed that he once asked legendary Brazilian Ronaldo for a photo when he was on holiday in Spain.

But the two-time World Cup winner had 'no clue' who Crouch was, according to the former Tottenham star.

Crouch explained: "I saw Ronaldo in Ibiza. I thought, 'He might know who I am. If he does, that'll make my life.'

"I was playing for Liverpool at the time. He didn't have a clue who I was."
