England Fans Mock Italy With Sensational Memes After They Fail To Qualify For 2022 World Cup

Italy will not be in Qatar.

England fans are royally taking the p**s out of Italy after their 1-0 defeat to North Macedonia with a hilarious selection of memes.

Roberto Mancini's side will not be going to this year's World Cup after Aleksandar Trajkovski's dramatic winner in added time of their play-off semi-final.

It'll be the second World Cup in a row the Azzurri have missed and it's a huge blow to them, having won Euro 2020 last summer.

They beat England in the final at Wembley back in July and the weeks that followed saw their players troll Gareth Southgate's men.

Turnabout is fair play however and after Thursday's result, England fans got to work. Some of these are works of art, check them out below.

Italy's last appearance at a World Cup was 2014 and the next time they make it will be 2026 at the earliest.

Missing out on the showcase event in Qatar stung Mancini who was 'too disappointed' to discuss his role as manager post-match.

"We will see. I think everyone is too disappointed right now to talk about the future," he told Eurosport.

"This is such a tough moment, my affection for them is immense. It's too early to say what happens next, as there is such disappointment, but at the same time this is a squad of great players with a bright future."

Italy were favourites to win the game and set up a massive play-off final with Portugal, who defeated Turkey 3-1 in their semi-final.

They dominated possession and had a whopping 32 shots coupled with 66% possession.

However, Trajkovski stunned Gianluigi Donnarumma with a long range effort that flew past the Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper.

North Macedonia now face Cristiano Ronaldo and company on Tuesday for a spot in this winter's tournament.
