Jamie Carragher Says Arsenal's Front Three Is Better Than Manchester City's

A very bold claim...

Jamie Carragher has caused debate aplenty on social media after saying that Arsenal's front three is better than that of table-topping Manchester City's.

The Liverpool legend, working as a pundit for Sky Sports last night, spoke glowingly of Gunners trio Alexis Sanchez, Alexandre Lacazette and Mesut Ozil after the thrilling 2-2 draw with Chelsea at the Emirates and made the claim that they trump every attack in the Premier League.

He also added that the reason Arsenal aren't in a healthy position of late, given they lie in sixth place, 23 points off the top, is down to their erratic defence.

"They're [the three-man backline] not good enough and that's been a thing for a long time," he said on Sky Sports.

"You come away from the games against Manchester United, Liverpool and here tonight and going forward, Arsenal's front three are better than Man City's front three of Sane, Sterling and Aguero.

"Some people may not agree with that, but it's certainly very close.

"But it still gets let down by what comes behind. The same thing we've been saying for years, [they need] that figure at the back and they say a holding midfielder also.

"The defending is so poor and basic. This is Sunday League, Hackney Marshes type of defending. But it's been happening for that long and that's why Arsenal will never win these big trophies at this moment."

As a trident, Sanchez, Lacazette and Ozil clearly have bags of quality but this season, Raheem Sterling, Sergio Aguero and Leroy Sane have been irresistible.

In the Premier League, Sterling has 14 goals and four assists to his name, Aguero has 13 goals and four assists, while Sane has chipped in with six goals and nine assists. Looking at Arsenal's forwardline, Lacazette has eight goals and three assists, Sanchez has seven goals and three assists and Ozil has four goals and five assists.

Carra's claim probably isn't the worst football opinion in the world, but it brought him plenty of flak on social media:
