Gianluigi Buffon has named the only other player who's as lethal in front of goal as the Portuguese superstar.

Real Madrid will be calling upon Ronaldo's services as they seek for their third consecutive Champions League triumph.

Standing in their way, Serie A champions Juventus who played the Los Blancos in last seasons final.

Juventus host their Spanish counterparts in the first-leg, and Buffon has heaped praise on Ronaldo calling him a 'real assassin'.

"I admire him because he's a person who knows what he's doing and he is pragmatic," Buffon told Marca.

"In recent years he has shown that he is intelligent. He has changed his position, he wastes less energy, yet he is just as lethal. In front of goal he is a real assassin."

While the defending La Liga holders are enduring a somewhat nightmarish campaign, on a personal level, Ronaldo has still bagged 22 league goals, as well as a further 12 goals in Europe.

And Buffon has likened his predatory finishing skills to former teammate David Trezeguet.

"The only player I've seen have this clarity when shooting on his own is David Trezeguet," he added.

The French striker was a prolific, goal-scoring machine for Juventus who guided his side to Serie A, B titles and domestic cups, while reaching the Champions League final in 2003.

Not to mention heroics on the international scene; he won the World Cup in 1998, and the European Championships in 2000.
