Borussia Monchengladbach's players nervously watched the final moments of Inter Milan vs Shakhtar Donetsk on an iPad.

The German side were beaten 2-0 by a Karim Benzema-inspired Real Madrid on the final Champions League group stage matchday - a result that secured the 13-time champions' passage to the knockout stages as group winners.

Thus, Gladback's destiny was out of their hands and they needed Shakhtar to draw with Inter in the other fixture in Group B if they were to progress as the runners up.

That game went on slightly later due to stoppage time and so the Bundesliga outfit had the painful experience of waiting after the final whistle to find out their fate.

At first they were watching on a iPhone like a load of people in the pub when someone loaded up a dodgy stream, before they all surrounded an iPad that was set up pitchside.

The scenes when the whistle was blown and it was confirmed they had reached the Champions League round of 16 for the first time of history was just sensational.

Shakhtar finished in third place to secure a spot in the Europa League round of 32, with Antonio Conte's Inter finishing bottom of the group after winning just one match.
