Chelsea take strange decision to add Mykhaylo Mudryk to Instagram bio before signing

Chelsea have hijacked Arsenal's long drawn-out attempt to sign Mudryk and he looks set to be paraded at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Chelsea looked to have hijacked Arsenal's attempt to sign Mykhaylo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk, and the Blues are already posting about it, despite not officially signing him yet.

For months now, Arsenal fans have been getting excited about the idea of signing Mudryk, with links to the player going back to the summer transfer window.

It looked like the Ukraine forward was going to sign sometime this month, with the Premier League leaders deep in conversations with Shakhtar over the price.

The selling club were very sure to get their asking price for the highly rated 22-year-old, whilst Arsenal obviously wanted to get the best deal for themselves.

It felt like the player really wanted to move to north London as well, with his social media activity really hinting that a move to Arsenal were his wishes.

He posted a praying emoji after talk of one bid for him went public and also started following potential future teammate Gabriel Magalhaes.

On Saturday evening however, it was revealed that Chelsea were on the verge of overtaking the deal to sign the forward, having stumped up the money for him.

Talks were so advanced that he was already on his way to west London to have a medical and sign the contract, having already agreed to terms.

And the Blues are so confident that they've added Mudryk's Instagram page to their own bio and started posting all about him on their socials.

They even posted a statement ahead of the signing, saying, "Chelsea are discussing terms with Shakhtar Donetsk for the transfer of Mykhailo Mudryk.

"Should a deal be agreed between the two clubs then the Ukrainian international, who can operate as a winger or a forward, will discuss personal terms with the Blues ahead of a permanent transfer."

According to reports on Sunday, the newest signing for the Blues is set to be at Stamford Bridge later in the day and be paraded at the ground ahead of their Premier League game with Crystal Palace.

One person who won't be on the pitch is Joao Felix, who was the club's most recent acquisition before Mudryk came on the scene.

The on loan Atletico Madrid forward is suspended for three games, having been sent off in his debut earlier in the week, as Graham Potter's side lost to Fulham.

The Blues loss to Fulham, coupled with Southampton's win over Southampton on Saturday, means they're currently as close to bottom of the table as they are the top four in the league.

Signing Mudryk will take their spending for the year to over €400 million, something that clearly hasn't helped them considering the situation they find themselves in.

Pressure has understandably started building on Potter, who would have been sacked by now under the club's former regime.

According to reports, Eintracht Frankfurt manager Oliver Glasner is being lined up by the Stamford Bridge side, should they decide to sack the former Brighton boss.
