Chris Hamill, a pundit from Sky Sports, has publicly urged Liverpool to sign Moussa Dembele this summer. The Ligue 1 striker who has bagged 21 goals from 30 appearances in the league this season could be back on the move to the United Kingdom.

Sadio Mané’s potential departure has Liverpool in need of attacking reinforcement this window, with it being key the Reds get the replacement on point. Dembele, a player who is averaging 0.8 goals and assists every 90 minutes may just be that man.

The 25 year-old Frenchman has had impressive stints at Fulham, Celtic and Lyon, with his host of multi-league experience shaping the player into one of finesse and efficient goal-scoring ability.

“I was actually thinking people are perhaps sleeping somewhat on Moussa Dembele’s exploits at Lyon," Hamill said.

"Here is a 25-year-old that in two out of his last three full campaigns in the south of France, has operated at 0.8 goals and assists per 90.

“He’s a very good age, I think he’s quite gettable, and he is mobile, he’s physical, he’s super efficient in the box. I think he is an interesting proposition for any top Premier League side that are looking for value at a No 9, perhaps.”

The striker is set to be out of contract next summer, perhaps meaning Liverpool could get him for a relatively low price this summer. On the other hand, the Reds could choose to wait to get the player on a free transfer next summer. However, with Origi and Mané’s departures, it’s more than likely Liverpool will have to make a move this window.

Alternatively, Liverpool could go in for Darwin Nunez, a striker they have already been linked with this transfer window. Both Dembele and Nunez have a similar number 9 style, with them combining physicality and skill to become complete strikers.

It will be interesting to see who Liverpool will choose to make a move for out of the two, if not both. Multiple departures call for multiple arrivals for the Reds, with Liverpool signing both players not completely off the cards.
