Atlanta United have taken a brutal dig at David Beckham after beating his Major League Soccer side Inter Miami early on Sunday morning.

In a huge shock result, MLS side Atlanta United defeated Lionel Messi's Inter Miami 3-2 in an Eastern Conference clash, knocking them out of the playoffs.

Atlanta midfielder Matías Rojas opening the scoring early in the game, shortly followed by a pair of goals from Miami's Jamal Thiare took the visitors into half-time ahead.

And, despite an equaliser from Messi, the hosts fell behind again as Bartosz Slisz won the game for Atlanta United in the 76th minute.

Immediately after the result, Atlanta United quickly took to social media platform X to gloat about the win and aim a dig at the popular MLS side.

Using the 'be honest' meme template from David and Victoria Beckham's Netflix documentary series 'BECKHAM' to point out their impressive record over their Eastern Conference rivals.

The meme puts Inter Miami in the role of Victoria, who is claiming to be the best team in Major League Soccer, while Atlanta, in the role of David, ask Miami to be honest and admit that they have lost several times to their rivals.

It comes from a moment in the Netflix documentary series that tells the story of England and Manchester United legend Beckham's life and career.

In the hilarious clip. Beckham's wife Victoria, who rose to fame as 'Posh' in the Spice Girls, is talking to an interviewer and claims that both her and David grew up in middle-class households.

However, her husband is not prepared to let the comment slide and chimes in to fact-check his wife asking her to be honest and admit that when she grew up, her dad drove a Rolls-Royce.

Atlanta compare this viral moment to the fact that Inter Miami, who are owned by Beckham, are widely seen as the best football team in America due to their impressive side including players like Messi, Luis Suarez and Sergio Busquets.

However, the head to head record may suggest otherwise as in the six times that the two teams have faced off, Atlanta have won four while Miami have won just once, with their other meeting a draw.
