Lionel Messi branded an "idiot" by Luis Suarez after antics in Inter Miami training

Lionel Messi angered teammate Luis Suarez in Inter Miami training after the two reunited.

Not many people insult Lionel Messi but Luis Suarez felt the need to after his antics in Inter Miami training.

After forming a scintillating partnership during their time at Barcelona, the pair have been reunited at David Beckham's franchise.

Inter are currently preparing for their first game of the new MLS season on 22 February and have played pre-season games against the El Salvador national team and FC Dallas.

Next up is a tour of Saudi Arabia as they take on Al Hilal and Cristiano Ronaldo's Al Nassr but the players continue to be put through their paces in training by manager Gerardo Martino.

And Suarez had to partake in a quite brutal initiation which resulted in him laying into long-time friend Messi.

The former Liverpool and Atletico Madrid striker had to run past all his teammates while they gave him neck slaps.

Messi was right at the very end and didn't refrain from laying it in on his pal.

As footage shows, Suarez was not best pleased with how hard Messi struck him.

After coming out of the slap attack, a seething Suarez asked the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner: "Since when have you been throwing punches in the hallways, idiot?

Messi and Suarez linked up at the Cotton Bowl on Monday, though there were concerns about the lack of attendance despite the superstars on show.

Jesus Ferreira scored the only goal of the game three minutes in, but Messi hit headlines for attempting to score an 'Olimpico' goal directly from a corner.

On his wand of a left foot, Messi curled an effort from the right and nearly caught out goalkeeper Maarten Paes.

Messi and Inter take on Al Hilal next in Riyadh on Monday before the scheduled showdown with Ronaldo and Al Nassr on 1 February.

However, there are worries the game might not go ahead due to Al Nassr cancelling their tour of China due to an injury suffered by their talisman.
