Lionel Messi has been used to winning regularly throughout his illustrious career - but he has not always come out on top and there have been 11 club sides he has not tasted victory against.

The 37-year-old attacker is seen by many as the greatest player of all time and came through the ranks at Barcelona, having been signed by the Catalan side from his native Argentina at the age of 13.

Between 2004 and 2021, Messi went on to score 672 goals in 778 games for the Camp Nou outfit in a remarkable spell of success both personally and for Barcelona.

Messi won a total of 10 La Liga titles with Barca as well as seven Copa del Rey crowns, four Champions Leagues, seven Supercopa de Espana finals, three UEFA Super Cups and a trio of FIFA Club World Cups.

Messi departed Barca in 2021 and moved to Paris Saint-Germain, where he secured two French league titles at the Parc des Princes side.

He moved to MLS team Inter Miami in 2023 where he remains to the present day, having scored 34 goals in 39 appearances.

Messi also boasts 112 goals in 191 caps for Argentina and has added two Copa America titles and the World Cup to his nation's name.

Messi has also won the Ballon d'Or a record eight times, the most recent of these coming in 2023 following his side's third World Cup triumph in 2022.

But though Messi has been used to success throughout his career, the Argentine has not won against a total of 11 teams he has faced in his club playing days, with some very obscure names appearing and some being very much one-off appearances.

According to a list compiled by Planet Football, Messi tasted defeat during his Barcelona B days at the hands of Spanish minnows Villajoyosa CF, as well as Yeclano Deportivo.

Losses also came in the early stages of Messi's career in Spain against the likes of CE Sabadell FC, Deportivo Aragon and Novelda CF, as well as UE Figueres and UDA Gramenet.

During his time in France, Messi failed to beat Strasbourg in two games with PSG.

And following his move to the MLS, there are three sides that the Argentine has faced with Inter Miami but not beaten as of yet.

These include fellow MLS sides LA Galaxy and Colorado Rapids, as well as Mexican giants CF Monterrey in the CONCACAF Champions Cup.
