Lionel Messi and LeBron James embrace ahead of Argentine's Inter Miami debut

The basketball GOAT was in attendance to watch the debut of the football GOAT.

LeBron James was in attendance for Lionel Messi’s debut game for Inter Miami.

The two sporting GOATs embraced ahead of the kick-off between Miami and Cruz Azul in the Leagues Cup.

The Argentine starts on the bench for what should be his first time out on the field for Miami at a packed-out DRV PNK Stadium.

The stars were out in force to catch the World Cup winner in action with LeBron James ensuring he wasn’t to miss a history-making moment.

The two sports stars sent the internet into a frenzy after they were captured greeting and hugging each other ahead of the start of the game.

One fan wrote: “LEO MESSI AND LEBRON JAMES. Two GOATs of their own sport.”

Another said: “When the King met the GOAT.”

A third added: “This is the greatest thing I have seen in sports.”

With a 20,000+ sold out stadium, they were sure to be some stars in attendance.

Sports reporter Joe Pompilano reports that the average ticket price went from $25 to $440 when it wasannounced that Messi would be making his debut.

It’s a mammoth moment for American football which comes 16 years to the day since David Beckham made his MLS debut.

Fans will be hoping that the former Barcelona player enters the pitch at some stage during the game.
