Inter Milan eyeing shock move for Man Utd defender as Skriniar replacement identified

Inter Milan eyeing shock move for Man Utd defender as Skriniar replacement identified

This came out of nowhere.

Inter Milan are reportedly considering a move for Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof as the club seek a replacement for Milan Skriniar.

Inter defender Skriniar has reportedly agreed a pre-contract with Paris Saint-Germain and will join them in the summer for free, although it is yet to be officially announced. However, it is claimed that PSG are keen to accelerate the move to this January.

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the French side are pushing Inter to let him join earlier than planned to add further depth to their defence.

However, the Serie A side are resistant to letting him go before the deadline.

Skriniar reportedly agreed personal terms with PSG last summer, but Inter blocked any potential move. They are now thought to want €20 million if they are to see him leave the San Siro.

But PSG could face competition, with a mystery English club said to have outbid the Ligue 1 giants. And if someone does meet Inter's demands, the Italian giants have identified United's Lindelof as a potential replacement.

Lindelof to Man Utd?

Romano has reported that Inter are interested in Lindelof. However, United are thought to want to keep the Sweden international at Old Trafford, and Lille are said to want to keep defender Tiago Djalo, who has also been linked with a move to San Siro.

He tweeted: "Inter are exploring options to replace Milan Skriniar in case agreement will be reached with PSG to anticipate the deal in January.

"Victor Lindelof, option in the list but Man United want to keep him - as Lille don't want to sell Tiago Djaló now."

It is no surprise that Ten Hag is reluctant to sell a central defender. Whilst United appear to have plenty of options in the position, Phil Jones is expected to leave on a free this summer. Meanwhile, Alex Tuanzebe has been linked with a loan move away this January.

Harry Maguire also seems to have lost his place under Erik ten Hag, with the England international linked with an exit in favour of regular first team football.

The Red Devils have been linked with Inter defender Denzel Dumfries after his agent was spotted in England earlier in the week. The club are also said to be keeping tabs on Monaco defender Axel Disasi, report Telefoot.
