Chelsea have reportedly rejected a third offer from Manchester United for midfielder Mason Mount.

Over the last few weeks, United have been trying to lure Mount away from Stamford Bridge.

To date, the Old Trafford club have already had two bids rejected by Chelsea.

It was reported last week that United's first two bids were in the range of £40 million to £45 million.

Now, according to The Athletic, United’s third bid of £50 million plus £5 million in performance-related add-ons has been turned down.

In a bid to reach an agreement, Chelsea have sent a counter-proposal of £58 million plus £7 million in add-ons back to United.

Furthermore, it is believed that Chelsea are willing to meet with United in order to find a solution next week.

The 24-year-old has been linked with a move away from Chelsea since it was reported that talks over a new deal stalled, with Mount not accepting new terms offered to him by the Blues.

Mount came through the academy at Chelsea and made his first-team debut back in 2017.

Two loan spells followed at Vitesse Arnhem and Derby County before he cemented himself as a first-team regular at Chelsea under Frank Lampard.

Since then, he has made a total of 195 appearances across all competitions for the Stamford Bridge club, scoring 33 goals.

The 22/23 season was a tough one for the England international as he struggled to find form due to multiple injury problems.

Apart from Mount, United have been linked with the likes of Declan Rice, Harry Kane, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund.

Erik ten Hag is looking to bolster his squad in order to challenge on all fronts once again.

The Dutchman is keen to build on a successful first season in charge after he led the club to the Carabao Cup whilst also reaching the FA Cup final.
