Marcelo was given an absolutely thunderous welcome by Olympiacos fans after being presented as a new signing on Monday.

The Brazilian legend was linked with a shock move to Leicester City but that quickly fizzled out and he is said to have penned a one-year deal with Olympiacos - with the option of an extra year.

The addition of Marcelo, a five-time Champions League winner, is a monumental one and so the club wanted to give him the best possible welcome.

The Greek giants organised an event on Monday to allow their fans to greet Marcelo, who signed on Saturday.

And it did not disappoint. 20,000 supporters piled into the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium, where the 34-year-old took to the pitch alongside his two sons.

There were flares and fireworks as Marcelo walked out past a slew of trophies and applauded the four sides of the ground.

The rabid supporters were bouncing up and down and chanting, the ground almost shaking with the movement.

Marcelo, who even held a flare at one point, performed the mandatory skills and kick ups and addressed his new fans, saying: "Thank you. I am very happy and satisfied. My family too. I hope to help the team with great devotion."

He then uttered a first sentence in Greek, shouting, "Let's go, Olympiakos!".

The scenes were just sensational and Marcelo is now well aware of the type of atmosphere to expect when he pulls on the Olympiacos shirt on a matchday.

Marcelo is the most decorated player in Real Madrid's history with 25 trophies in 16 seasons and 546 appearances at the Santiago Bernabeu.

He will look to add to his trophy-haul with Olympiacos, who have won the last three Greek superleague titles.
