Manchester United are expected to include over ten players on their release list at the end of this season.

It's been a disappointing year for the Red Devils and they've missed out on the top four and a spot in next season's Champions League.

A number of players are expected to move on and the Manchester Evening News speculate the releases will be into double figures across every age group.

First-team stars Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Nemanja Matic, Juan Mata and Edinson Cavani are all out of contract next month as is Lee Grant.

Matic announced he'd be leaving last month despite United announcing his last contract extension would keep him at Old Trafford until 2023.

In reality, that was if he'd chosen to activate the option of an additional year which he didn't do.

It's not just the first-team who are set to undergo a massive overhaul in the coming months.

Goalkeeper Ondrej Mastny, full-back Reece Devine, midfield duo Charlie Wellens and Connor Stanley, plus attackers D'Mani Mellor and Mateo Mejia are out of contract at academy level.

Stanley will join a new, unnamed club in the summer while the others are currently in limbo in regards to their future.

A decision on Dylan Levitt, who made his United debut in the Europa League against FC Astana in 2019, also has to be made.

Levitt is a Wales international and currently on loan at Dundee United. He was named the Scottish Premiership outfit's Fans' Player of the Year on Sunday.

Erik ten Hag was announced as the new United manager last month and he's signed off in style with Ajax, sealing the Eredivise title.

He's terminated his contract with the Dutch giants six weeks early so he can get to work as soon as possible.

United have one game remaining this season, away to Crystal Palace, and he'll be in attendance at Selhurst Park.

Ten Hag is known for his work with younger players, including Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong during their time at Ajax.

United won the FA Youth Cup on Wednesday after defeating Nottingham Forest 3-1.

Alejandro Garnacho scored twice in that game and has already made his debut for the first team this season.

Alvaro Fernandez was also on the bench for United's last game, a 4-0 defeat to Brighton.
