Manchester United have made contact with Eintracht Frankfurt over a potential deal for Randal Kolo Muani, it has been claimed.

Erik ten Hag is keen to add an elite No. 9 to his ranks this summer, as the Red Devils boss prepares to compete in the Champions League next season.

Harry Kane had emerged as the club's priority transfer target, however, Tottenham's reluctance to sell their star-studded striker has forced United to look elsewhere.

Rasmus Hojlund, Victor Osimhen and Gonacalo Ramos have all also been linked with a move to Old Trafford.

But United have stepped up their pursuit of Kolo Muani, and have 'made contact' with Frankfurt to discuss a potential transfer, according to Football Insider.

How much will Kolo Muani cost?

The same report states that Kolo Muani could could cost somewhere in the region of £85million, but the Daily Mail claim Frankfurt are prepared to accept a payment of £50-£60 million upfront.

United allegedly put an end to their pursuit of Mason Mount on Saturday their third bid was rejected by Chelsea, meaning Ten Hag and his recruitment team can pour their efforts into signing a world class striker.

Kolo Muani notched 23 goals and 17 assists in 46 appearances across all competitions for Frankfurt last season, finishing third top scorer in the Bundesliga.

Ex United striker Louis Saha reckons Kolo Muani would be a smart piece of business by his former club, stating (via the Express): “Randal Kolo Muani has different type of qualities to Harry Kane and he’s still young.

“But Muani has a hunger to always score goals, keeps himself busy on the pitch and can be very versatile. It’s a player who the Manchester United players will find easy to play with because he’s very smart in the way he plays.

"Muani won’t have any issues with the fitness or physicality needed in the Premier League, he can run all day and press high-up like we’ve seen with Wout Weghorst."

“He’s shown it for France with Kylian Mbappe, they connected instantly,” he added.
