Atalanta wonderkid Rasmus Hojlund is said to be 'really keen' on a move to Manchester United this summer if a bid is made, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The 20-year-old Denmark international is among a number of strikers to have been linked with a summer transfer to Old Trafford in recent weeks.

Manager Erik ten Hag is prioritising a new centre forward during the upcoming transfer window in order to ease the goalscoring burden on Marcus Rashford. Rashford scored 30 goals in all competitions this season.

United had made initial moves to launch a bid for Tottenham star Harry Kane, as per The Telegraph, but the Daily Mail's Simon Jones claimed on Monday that the club have been told he isn't for sale.

The England forward has also attracted the attentions of Real Madrid, who have identified him as a potential replacement for the outgoing Karim Benzema.

However, Hojlund is also a target, having netted nine goals in 32 appearances in his first season of Serie A football. He scored during Atalanta's 5-2 final day victory over Monza on Sunday. 90min have reported that the Italian club will only accept a fee of between €65 to €70 million to sell the Dane.

And Romano has now given a key update on United's pursuit of the forward.

Romano on Hojlund

Speaking to The United Stand, Romano stated that it is his understanding that Hojlund 'would be really keen' on a move to Old Trafford.

He explained: "Manchester United are, we can say, informed on the conditions of the deal.

"What happened recently, in the last 10 days, is that they had some conversations with people close to Rasmus Hojlund to be informed on the conditions of the deal, how much it would take to sign the player in the summer.

"They know that Atalanta hope to keep the player. But from what I understand, the player would be really keen on a move to Manchester United.

"We know he is a Manchester United fan - he was a Manchester United fan as a kid. Also he has this dream to play in the Premier League, so I think he would be keen on a move. United are informed on that."

He added that the negotiation for Hojlund would be 'not easy' given Atalanta's demands - but that United 'appreciate' the striker as they attempt to bring in a new striker this summer.
