Man Utd 'planning to sign two new strikers this summer' as club holds 'detailed talks' with exciting targets

Erik ten Hag is in the market for an elite number nine this summer.

Manchester United could sign two strikers this summer, according to reports.

Erik ten Hag is in the market for an elite number nine to help ease the burden on Marcus Rashford, with Anthony Martial seemingly too injury-prone and Wout Weghorst expected to return to his parent club, Burnley.

Harry Kane has emerged as United's priority target, although it remains unclear whether Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy would sanction a sale to a direct Premier League rival.

However, Ten Hag may look to bring in not just one, but two strikers this summer.

According to The Athletic, "Ten Hag would ideally like to bring in an experienced striker plus a younger one who can develop at United, given his team relied largely on Marcus Rashford for goals, but such an outlay would depend on player sales."

Who could Man Utd sign?

The report adds that the Red Devils have held "detailed talks over potential deals for Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund and Eintracht Frankfurt forward Randal Kolo Muani."

United's football director John Murtough spoken to both Atalanta and Eintracht, respectively, with both clubs "open to selling their players for the right price."

While it is thought that Hojlund is the likelier player to sign for the old Trafford outfit at this stage.

The 20-year-old has signed up with the SEG agency in anticipation of a move at some stage in his short to medium-term future, the same agency Ten Hag is represented by.

In addition, the agency’s co-founder Kees Voss is a regular at Old Trafford and even watched United's win over Fulham on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Kolo Muani has managed an impressive 23 goals and 17 assists for Frankfurt this term, and played a key role in France's run to the World Cup final.

It is stated that Frankfurt could demand as much as €80million (£68.7m) for the 24-year-old, however, with Hojlund far better value.
