Sources close to Sheikh Jassim give three reasons why he won't pay the Glazers' asking price for Man Utd

Will anyone meet the Glazers' £6billion asking price?

Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani will not pay the Glazers’ asking price to buy Manchester United for three reasons, according to a fresh report.

Since the Glazers put the Old Trafford club on the market in November, they have received two public proposals from Ineos owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim, both of which have fallen short of the United owners’ evaluation.

Nevertheless, both bids have entered the next phase of the takeover process, with representatives from both parties attending detailed presentations at Old Trafford this week.

According to the Telegraph, the Glazers have pushed back the deadline to complete a takeover to the start of June.

Meanwhile, the Americans allegedly want £6billion for United, which would make the club the most expensive sports team in history by a significant margin.

Sheikh Jassim won’t meet Glazers' valuation

ESPN have listed three reasons Sheikh Jassim will not pay the Glazer’s £6billion asking price for United.

Indeed, according to the publication, meetings with both Sheikh Jassim and Ratcliffe have sought to explain how the Glazers have arrived at their asking price.

In particular, the Americans are highlighting the club’s global fanbase in comparison to Premier League rivals Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea.

However, sources close to Sheikh Jassim have allegedly told ESPN the Qatari will not overpay for three reasons.

Firstly, it will take heavy investment to upgrade the decrepit Old Trafford, while it will also be expensive to refurbish the club’s Carrington training base.

Finally, Sheikh Jassim reportedly believes it will cost significant money to build a team that is consistently challenging for the Premier League and Champions League.

Ratcliffe’s consortium also values United at below £6billion.

After the second stage of the takeover process is complete, which could be as early as the end of this week, interested parties will be asked to submit revised bids for the club.
