Manchester United legend admits Jadon Sancho is on "borrowed time"

Manchester United legend admits Jadon Sancho is on "borrowed time"

A Manchester United legend has insisted Jadon Sancho is running out of time to prove his worth to the Red Devils.

A Manchester United legend has insisted Jadon Sancho is on "borrowed time" at the club after another disappointing season with the Red Devils.

Sancho has struggled to find his feet in the Premier League since joining from Borussia Dortmund in 2021 and is yet to justify his £73million price tag with 11 goals in 76 games for his side.

His form has been somewhat a mystery, with the 23-year-old one of the most exciting players in world football during his time at Dortmund, but he's not come close to hitting those heights at United.

Former United striker Dwight Yorke admitted he's struggled to put his finger on why Sancho hasn't performed for United, and insisted he needs to improve soon.

Yorke told The Mirror: "Somehow the transition from there to Manchester hasn't really worked out in the way that we all thought it might for him. Really struggled, whether it's from a mental point of view, which seems to be well documented. He hasn't really really lived up to the price tag.

"So yeah, he's on borrowed time, I suppose, if you have to be fair in many respects. He hasn't really produced the goods that we expect him."

Sancho has played 38 times this season for United under new manager Erik Ten Hag, but the Dutch manager has often preferred Antony and Marcus Rashford out wide ahead of the England man.

Though he's not shown much on the pitch individually, Sancho could still win a domestic double with United this season with the FA Cup final around the corner.

United will take on local rivals Manchester City as they look to add to their Carabao Cup title earlier this season and also aim to stop Pep Guardiola's side winning a treble - and feat only United themselves have achieved back in 1999.

They are also on the verge of securing Champions League football for next season, with one more point needed from their final two league games to secure a top four finish.
