Manchester United fans urged the club to sign Netherlands forward Cody Gakpo after the Netherlands star’s match-winning performance against Senegal.

The 23-year-old scored the opening goal as the Netherlands edged past Senegal 2-0 in a tepid encounter.

Gakpo steered a brave glancing header past the onrushing Edouard Mendy to break the deadlock in the 84th minute. The Netherlands then doubled their lead deep in injury time through Davy Klaassen, who capitalised on another Mendy error.

After the game, Man Utd fans took to Twitter to urge their club to sign Gakpo, a player they were linked with throughout the summer.

90min claimed that PSV are prepared to sell the player in January and that the 23-year-old.

While Man Utd will have to compete against a host of clubs for the Netherlands star’s signature, the Red Devils remain firmly interested, with a fee of around £40m having been mooted for the player.

Gakpo has enjoyed a superb start to the campaign in Holland, already netting 14 goals and 14 assists.
