What just happened between Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane after Al Nassr won a penalty has left fans stunned

Fans have been reacting on social media after seeing what Cristiano Ronaldo did when Al Nassr were awarded a penalty.

On Thursday night, Ronaldo was in action as Al Nassr took on Portuguese outfit Rio Ave in a pre-season friendly at the Estadio Algarve.

During what was a one-sided affair, Al Nassr came away 4-0 winners thanks to a hat-trick by Ronaldo, plus a goal from Mohamed Simakan.

With 61 minutes on the clock, Al Nassr were given a penalty for a chance to go 3-0 up.

Instead of taking the penalty himself, Ronaldo decided to hand the ball to Sadio Mane.

However, the former Liverpool man produced an awful penalty which was easily saved by Rio Ave goalkeeper Cezary Miszta.

Mane's miss ended up leading to Ronaldo scoring a header to make it 3-0. You can watch the passage of play below.

Reacting on social media, one fan said: "Cristiano Ronaldo gave the penalty to Sadio Mané to boost his confidence but Mané literally rolled it into the hands of the goalkeeper. WHAT A TOTAL WASTE!"

Another tweeted: "Player without confidence in SAUDI ARABIA? This can't be real."

A third fan added: "Ronaldo is the most humble player of all time."

Someone else wrote: "Oh man, that's brutal! Giving someone a chance to boost their confidence and then having it backfire like that? Sadio Mané must be feeling some type of way . Guess CR7 won't be giving him another chance anytime soon."

A fifth commented: "What happened to Mane?"

During the 24/25 season, Mane played 47 times for Al Nassr across all competitions, registering 18 goals and 14 assists.

Back in June, Mane was surprisingly left out of Senegal's squad to take on England in a post-season international friendly.

Despite being without their talisman, Senegal came away 3-1 winners, thanks to goals from Ismaila Sarr, Habib Diarra and Cheikh Sabaly.

Explaining Mane's absence, Senegal boss Pape Thiaw said it was a personal decision from the player himself.

He said: "It's a personal decision that is his private business, and I respect that as a coach."

Mane had previously been criticised after Senegal drew against Sudan and beat Togo in World Cup qualifiers back in March.
