Prominent transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has given a transfer update on the stance of PSV star Cody Gakpo amid rumours linking him with a move to Manchester United.
United have been keen on the forward since the summer, with the player himself admitting that he held personal talks with Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag.
But the Old Trafford club could not meet PSV's asking price, and a potential move to Leeds also fell through.

This time around, however, United appear to be at the front of the queue to bring Gakpo to England, with Ten Hag a major fan of the player.
Previously, Romano claimed that a fee of £43 million would be enough to convince PSV to sell. That fee would eclipse their outgoing transfer record, set when Hirving Lozano moved to Napoli for a reported £36 million back in 2019.
Now, the transfer journalist has given a new update on whether Gakpo is likely to move on from the Dutch giants this January.

Taking to Twitter, Romano has updated United fans on the likelihood of a move for the 23-year-old in January.

Gakpo impressed at the World Cup with Netherlands, scoring in each of their three group games as he further improved his reputation on the world stage.
Following his nation's elimination at the quarter-final stage, Gakpo has already returned to PSV ahead of the resumption of the Eredivisie season.
Speaking in November, Gakpo said he would decide on his future after the World Cup had concluded. With the tournament now over, he must make a major call - and Romano has hinted at what that could be.
Romano wrote: "Cody Gakpo hasn't changed his mind on Manchester United. He was keen on joining last summer and this is still the case, discussions with his agents have always been positive.

"It's on Man United now, time to decide internally about €55-60m investment."
The tweet suggests that PSV have marginally increased their asking price, with the latter figure representing a fee of nearly £53 million.
But if United are desperate to secure the signature of one of Europe's top young forwards, it looks as if they will need to make a swift decision on whether to invest a significant amount of money in January.
