Mohamed Salah says Liverpool are not the favourites to win the Premier League this season as he named the club who are.

Liverpool kicked off the defence of their Premier League title with a thrilling 4-2 victory over Bournemouth on Friday.

The Reds went two-nil up before being pegged back, but Federico Chiesa restored his side's lead two minutes from time before Salah himself rounded off the scoring.

Manchester City, who won four league titles in a row before last season, opened their campaign with a stunning 4-0 win at Wolves, while Arsenal beat Manchester United 1-0.

Both Man City and Arsenal are expected to mount a title charge this season, but Salah has tipped the Gunners to win their first championship since 2004.

Speaking at the PFA Awards ceremony in Manchester on Tuesday, Salah said he believes Arsenal are the favourites to win the league title this season.

"I think you have a great team this season," he said of Arsenal, before adding: "So, you have really good chance. I think you are the favourite now... been together for five years."

Salah concluded: "Hopefully we do it again."

The Egyptian star enjoyed a remarkable campaign last season, weighing in with an impressive 29 league goals and 18 assists as he inspired Liverpool to their 20th league title.

Even though Arne Slot has reinforced his squad this summer, Gary Neville agrees with Salah and has backed Mikel Arteta's team to win the league this season.

"I’m going on Monday Night Football tomorrow and will make a prediction and I’m probably going to go with Arsenal because I’ve gone with them the last three seasons," he said on Sunday following Arsenal's hard-fought win at Old Trafford.

"But honestly, Liverpool could easily win the league, especially if they get Alexander Isak, they could easily win the league by five or six points.

"We could be staring the obvious in the face with Man City signing [Tijjani] Reijnders and getting Rodri back. They’ve got the best striker in the league and probably the world [Erling Haaland] who scores 40 goals a season."

Neville added: "We could look back in six months and be saying it was staring us in the face because City have got a treble-winning spine, they’ve got new players in who look outstanding and they’ve got the best forward in the league.

"Then you look at Arsenal and think the last two pieces of the jigsaw have been filled with [Viktor] Gyokeres and [Martin] Zubimendi. The defence looks outstanding, they look like a real team and they’re tough to beat."
