"Remember the name..." - Romano says Man Utd are targeting "very talented" youngster

Erik ten Hag is a huge fan.

Manchester United are interested in signing teenage wonderkid Axel van Dongen from Ajax this summer, according to reports.

Erik ten Hag is keen to strengthen his squad this summer in preparation for a busy European schedule next season, with a Champions League finish on the cards.

The United boss is reportedly keeping an eye on Van Dongen's situation, with the winger's contract due to expire this summer.

Indeed, the United boss knows him well from his time managing Ajax, when he was breaking into the first team.

Man Utd keen on Van Dongen

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has given his take on the player's situation, revealing contract talks have proved difficult.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano claimed that Van Dongen has been offered a new four-year deal at the Dutch club. However, 'there is still no agreement in place between both parties'.

Should he refuse a new contract, Ten Hag, who allegedly knows him "very, very well", could snap him up as a free agent in the summer.

Whilst it is thought that clubs many other clubs, including those from Germany have expressed an interest in signing the player.

Romano told fans to "remember the name", referring to him as a "very talented winger".

The Red Devils boss has regularly given youth a chance this season, promoting 18-year-old winger Alejandro Garnacho to the first team.

Elsewhere, United have identified Eintracht Frankfurt striker Randal Kolo Muani as a possible addition, who is also set to become a free agent this summer.

The Frenchman has managed an impressive 10 goals and 11 assists in the Bundesliga this season, and could act as a far cheaper alternative to Harry Kane.

Tottenham are expected to demand in excess of £100million for the 29-year-old. Whilst United are said to be cautious about entering negotiations with Daniel Levy.
